About Us


The nursery is open from 7.30 am until 6 pm for 51 weeks a year. We only close between Christmas and New Year for the week and all other bank holidays. We try to be flexible with our days and sessions and you can have a mixture of mornings afternoons and full day, if our rooms have the spaces available.

The nursery bases its practice around the statutory ‘Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework’.

This is the same curriculum used in school nurseries up to the end of the foundation stage.


The 4 principles which guide the work of all early years practitioners are:


A Unique Child

Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self- assured.

Children learn to be strong and independent, from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning

Children develop and learn in different ways and rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected
These four principles are the guidance for our effective practice and delivery, ensuring the very best for each child as an individual.

Learning and Development
There are seven areas of learning and development that we use to develop educational programmes within the setting. These are used to provide well planned quality experiences and spontaneous play based on each child’s interests. The three prime areas are:
Communication and Language
Giving children opportunities to develop their confidence and skills to express themselves, to both listen and to speak.
Physical Development
Providing children with opportunities to be active and interactive; developing co-ordination and control over their movements, and to help them make healthy choices in relation to food.
Personal, Social And Emotional Development
Helping the children develop a sense of pride in themselves, to become confident and independent, form positive relationships and to manage their feelings and behaviour.

We support children in four specific areas

Encouraging children to link sounds and letters and begin to read and write.
Enabling children to develop and improve skills in counting, understanding numbers, shapes and measures.
Understanding The World
Guiding children to make sense of the world, their community and to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.
Expressive Arts And Design
Enabling children to explore a wide range of media and materials. Activities such as art, music, movement, dance, role play, design and technology.
Staff Experience
The Staff use their experience to balance adult led activities with child initiated play, to ensure the children are engaged and stimulated and progressing in their development. Observations of the children play an important role in assessing and reviewing where each child is in their learning, where they need to go and how we can extend their learning through their interests and prove appropriate resources, to reach their goals.
Good planning is the key to making children’s learning effective, exciting, varied and progressive. Planning includes all children, including those with additional needs. It may adapt to interests, for example if we go outside and the children see a snail and become all excited and interested, we may then decide to provide a range of activities centred around snails.
